Reverse Thinking In Hotel Furniture Design

- Apr 26,2024 -

Reverse thinking is also called divergent thinking. It is a way of thinking that reverses the direction of thinking and thinks about things or viewpoints that seem to have become definitive. It conducts in-depth exploration of the opposite side of things and seeks solutions to problems.

For example, in the creative stage, we think: why the chair has four legs, must the sofa surface be flat, why the furniture has to be moved so much. Simply put, when we design, we think "why not..." to achieve "seemingly impossible or impossible" innovative design.

The "N small legs" furniture designed by Valentin Loellmann from Germany breaks the "four-legged" pattern of previous furniture. Each piece of furniture has many legs. This series of design is very memorable, but the classical design reveals a modern atmosphere. This contrast can certainly arouse people's interest. Although the legs of each piece of furniture seem to be thin, they are very distinctive. As shown in Figure 1-15 to Figure 1-16.

A new design idea, as well as the design that appears under the guidance of this new idea and new idea, will always come out for the first time. Whether it appears in individual or collective wisdom, when it first appears, it is often branded as a creator. After it comes out, it may face different situations and prospects. In other words, it may not be accepted by the public, nor may it be able to survive and develop for a long time. But this kind of impulse and wisdom can be widely respected by society, and it is precisely this way that society has progressed and developed.
