It’s all guns blazing for Miami’s hotel market, according to figures from the TOPHOTELPROJECTS database.
We check out the top brands and projects that are destined for Miami and run through some of the most important numbers for the city’s hospitality industry.
There’s never a dull moment in Miami. Whether it’s the development of the up and coming Brickell neighbourhood, or the hedonism of Art Basel, Miami is a place to see and be seen, and the hotel industry knows it, which is why the city’s pipeline is in such good shape.
Miami has 37 projects lined up to open between now and 2024, and these hotels are due to add a further 9,389 rooms to Miami’s hotel stock. The majority of these hotels are in the first-class category, with 29 4-star hotels bringing a key count of 5,821 to the city, while the remaining eight hotels are luxury 5-star properties that will add 3,568 rooms.
11 hotels will open in 2021, following the six properties that are due to welcome guests this year, with 2024 also set to be a busy year, with 12 properties opening their doors over the course of those twelve months and beyond.
The lion’s share of the new hotels is either in planning or under construction, with 14 and 12 hotels in each of those phases respectively, putting them on course to open as planned over the next few years, although it remains to be seen how these openings will be affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
